Barfungpa, the 3rd coordination meeting of Tendong Lho Rum Faat Celebration
Committee 2026 for the organization of Yongthoom – Open Market, to be held as
part of the pre-Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebrations from 4th to 7th August at
Ridge Park, Gangtok, was convened today at the mini conference hall of the
District Administrative Centre (DAC), Gangtok.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">The
meeting was chaired by Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, Additional Political Secretary
(Gangtok District) to the Chief Minister, who reviewed the preparations and
emphasized the importance of making Yongthoom a vibrant platform for promoting
local entrepreneurship, preserving indigenous heritage, and showcasing Sikkim’s
rich cultural identity, a press release informs.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">During
the meeting, it was decided that 30 stalls will be allotted to entrepreneurs
from across the State, with five entrepreneurs representing each of Sikkim’s
six districts, ensuring equitable participation and providing a common platform
for local producers, artisans, innovators, and small business owners to exhibit
and market their products.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">This
year’s Yongthoom - Open Market will be uniquely themed around the Geographical
Indication (GI)-tagged traditional Lepcha musical instruments – Puntong Palit
and Tungbuk. The theme aims to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage
of the Lepcha community while creating greater awareness about the importance
of preserving and promoting indigenous art, craftsmanship, and traditional
knowledge.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">Tshering
Wangchuk highlighted that Yongthoom has been conceptualized in line with the
visionary initiative of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) under the
flagship vision of “One Family, One Entrepreneurship”. The initiative seeks to
encourage self-employment, empower local entrepreneurs, generate sustainable
livelihoods, and strengthen the rural economy by creating direct market access
for homegrown products and enterprises, the release mentions.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">The
meeting also discussed the overall layout of the open market, stall allocation,
branding, cultural presentation, visitor experience, and coordination among
participating organizations to ensure the successful conduct of the event.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">The
meeting was attended by executive members of Renjyong Mutanchi Rong Tarzum,
Renjyong Mutanchi Rong Ong Shezum, and Renjyong Mutanchi Ringmom Kurmom, who
extended their full support and cooperation towards the successful organization
of Yongthoom as part of the upcoming Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebrations.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p>
