<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b>GANGTOK,:</b><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif"> Sikkim Tourism received the Award of
Excellence for promoting rural and sustainable tourism at the Travel &
Tourism Fair (TTF) in Mumbai, the State Tourism and Civil Aviation department
said on Saturday.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">Sikkim
participated as a partner State at TTF Mumbai under the Sikkim INSPIRES
initiative. Held from August 20 to 22, the fair provided a platform to showcase
Sikkim’s tourism destinations, cultural experiences, rural tourism initiatives,
nature-based products and hospitality offerings to the Mumbai and wider
national tourism market.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">The
Sikkim Tourism pavilion witnessed strong footfall and encouraging engagement
from visitors, travel trade representatives, tourism professionals and
enthusiasts, with particularly strong response on the second day of the fair,
the department said.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">The
team was led by assistant director Dipti Rai and tourist officer Ruth Rai from
DTO, Namchi. More than 15 tourism stakeholders also participated, including
representatives of tourism stakeholder associations, VTDC members from Rabong
and Pakyong, Buddha Park, Ravangla, hotel owners and travel agencies.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">The
participating stakeholders reported strong interest from the Mumbai market,
with visitors and business representatives expressing keen interest in
travelling to Sikkim. Several tour packages were also reportedly booked during
the interactions at the pavilion.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">The
department said the participation helped Sikkim's tourism stakeholders
establish new business contacts, strengthen trade relationships and explore
collaborations with travel agencies, tour operators and tourism partners from
Maharashtra and other states.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">The
participating stakeholders thanked Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) and
Tourism and Civil Aviation minister Tshering T Bhutia for providing the
platform to showcase Sikkim's tourism potential at the national tourism forum.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">They
said such platforms were instrumental in promoting the state's tourism
products, creating business opportunities, strengthening market linkages and
taking Sikkim's distinctive tourism experiences to a wider audience.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">Sikkim's
participation in TTF Mumbai concluded on a positive note, marked by strong
visitor engagement, business enquiries, reported tour bookings, enhanced trade
networking and the recognition for promoting rural and sustainable tourism, the
