SKM Students’ Wing holds monthly meeting, reiterates commitment for students’ welfare

GANGTOK,: The SKM Students’ Wing successfully conducted its August monthly meeting on Monday here at the SKM party headquarters, under the direction and guidance of vice president in-charge and MLA Aditya Golay Sir. A press release informs that the meeting commenced with a one-minute silence and prayer in remembrance of the victims of the recent flash floods in Nepal, expressing solidarity, sympathy and condolences to the affected families. Junu Chettri, public affairs, SKM headquarters, chaired the meeting which was attended by SKM Students’ Wing president Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, vice president Bhim Kumari Sharma, general secretary Rewaj Chettri, convenor Dawa Bhutia, and executive members Zigmee Gurung, Jigmee Bhutia and Pritam Chettri. Also present were the district convenors and executive members of the Students’ Wing from all six districts. IT wing general secretary Gaurav Agarwal and PVE Networks founder Vikesh Kayasta attended the meeting as special guests. The programme was hosted by convenor Dawa Bhutia, while the welcome address was delivered by executive member Zigmee Gurung. Addressing the gathering, SKM Students’ Wing vice president Bhim Kumari Sharma appreciated the successful continuation of the monthly coordination meetings and emphasised the importance of working collectively and tirelessly for the welfare and interests of students. She called upon the Students’ Wing to continue its work under the guidance and support of Chief Minister and party president Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) and to remain committed to strengthening the organisation through dedicated service. General secretary Rewaj Chettri highlighted the need to further strengthen the organisation at the constituency level through the formation of effective committees. Referring to the successful volunteer participation during the 10th Aama Samman Diwas, he appreciated the teamwork, coordination and dedication demonstrated by the Students’ Wing members. He urged the District and State executive members to have a thorough understanding of the various benefits, schemes and welfare initiatives available for students, and to ensure that such information reaches students at the grassroots level. He also invited the IT Wing to share its ideas regarding the development of a student-centric database, which would enable the organisation to maintain accurate and updated student information for future coordination, planning and welfare initiatives. As part of the meeting, the Best Student Volunteers from all six districts, who demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment during the 2nd Aama Samman Diwas, were felicitated. As a token of appreciation and encouragement, the State-level Students’ Wing team presented each volunteer with a gift hamper in recognition of their tireless service and contribution during 2nd Amma Samman Diwas held at Rangpo. The awardees were Hissey Wangchuk Lachenpa – Mangan District; Mamta Rai – Namchi District; Rinchen Dorjee Bhutia – Gyalshing District; Asish Suzi – Gangtok District; Dupzong Lepcha – Pakyong District; and Bhardwaj Subba – Soreng District. The felicitation acknowledged their commitment, discipline and valuable contribution as volunteers, the release mentions. Special Guest and IT Wing general secretary Gaurav Agarwal shared his views on developing a systematic and comprehensive student-centric database. He emphasised that maintaining accurate and updated student information would be beneficial for future reference, coordination and the implementation of student welfare initiatives. He suggested that the District Convenors could play a key role in collecting and maintaining the required information. He further informed the gathering that the IT Cell would facilitate the provision of identity cards for the designated team members involved in the initiative. SKM Students’ Wing president Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha highlighted the important responsibilities of the State and District executive members and urged all members to attend organisational meetings regularly and actively participate in Students’ Wing programmes and activities. He also requested the State Executive to ensure the timely renewal of CEC identity cards and payment of monthly or annual fees at SKM party headquarters. Tshering Wangchuk shared the successful implementation of a Nodal Officer at the STNM Hospital to maintain information regarding student patients admitted to the hospital. He stated that the initiative would help facilitate timely coordination, support and welfare assistance for students in need. He further appreciated the Himalayan Solidarity Programme initiated under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). He stated that the Students’ Wing would actively participate in the programme in the coming days and support the call for humanity across the borders in Nepal. He concluded by urging all District Students’ Wing teams to continue working with greater dedication, unity and collective responsibility for the welfare of students and the continued strengthening of the organisation PVE Networks founder Bikesh Kayasta interacted with the Students’ Wing team and shared his ideas regarding volunteer coordination and participation in upcoming events. He also proposed the participation of the SKM Students’ Wing in the upcoming Nepathya live concert, scheduled to be held on October 31 at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok. The event will feature the renowned Nepali band Nepathya performing live in Sikkim for the first time, under the theme “Celebrate Sikkim.” Kayasta discussed the scope for Students’ Wing volunteers to contribute towards coordination and support for the event. In her concluding address, Sabha Adhyakshya Junu Chettri, public affairs, SKM Headquarters, congratulated the Students’ Wing for successfully conducting its monthly meeting and appreciated the teamwork, coordination and active participation of the members. She emphasised that the Students’ Wing is an important pillar of the organisation, playing a significant role in strengthening the party and its outreach at the grassroots level. She encouraged the students to make the best use of every available opportunity and initiative that could lead to positive and meaningful outcomes. She further urged the Students’ Wing to actively participate in the upcoming Cricket Celebration at Arithang. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by State-Level executive member Pritam Chettri. The August monthly meeting reflected the continued commitment of the SKM Students’ Wing towards student welfare, organisational strengthening, grassroots coordination, volunteerism and collective service, while reaffirming its resolve to work with greater dedication and unity in the days ahead, the release mentions.
