<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b>GANGTOK,:</b> The Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran
Yojana benefit distribution programme was held across all 32 Assembly Constituencies
of Sikkim today, including nine in Namchi district.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana is a women-centric
welfare initiative aimed at providing financial support to eligible mothers and
strengthening their economic well-being and self-reliance.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">While around 1000 beneficiaries from each constituency
are being provided the cheques this time, the Chief Minister recently stated
that Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana would be expanded from 2027 to cover
50,000 beneficiaries, with more than 1,500 mothers from each Assembly constituency
expected to benefit, informs an IPR release. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">In Namchi-Singithang constituency, the programme was
conducted at Kisan Market, Namchi, where are MLA Satish Chandra Rai was the chief
guest. A total of 990 beneficiaries from Namchi-Singithang received their
cheques during the programme.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Addressing the gathering, the MLA congratulated all the
beneficiaries from the district and conveyed his best wishes to them on
receiving the financial assistance under the scheme. He underscored the
importance of extending government welfare measures directly to mothers and
appreciated the continued efforts towards strengthening the financial security,
dignity and empowerment of women across the State.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">He also highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the
State government for the welfare and empowerment of mothers, senior citizens
and families. The Sikkim Aama Sahyog Yojana extends support to mothers through
welfare assistance, while the Aama Samman Puraskar recognises and honours
mothers for their contribution to their families and society. The Shravan Kumar
Puraskar acknowledges individuals who demonstrate exemplary care, respect and
responsibility towards their parents, the MLA said.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Namchi BDO Upendra Rai stated that the selection of
beneficiaries had been carried out strictly in accordance with the prescribed
guidelines and eligibility criteria. He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the
financial assistance judiciously for its intended purpose and advised them to
follow the necessary banking procedures while depositing their respective
cheques.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Likewise, 445 beneficiaries of six GPUs under
Poklok-Kamrang constituency were handed over Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana
cheques by minister and area MLA Bhoj Rai Rai, at Block Administrative Centre,
Namchi today.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">While addressing the gathering, the minister mentioned that
the financial assistance is being provided to assist women for their
socio-economic empowerment in their day-to-day lives and also urged the
beneficiaries to make positive use of the funds through various initiatives
that can be undertaken by them.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The minister also advised the beneficiaries to rectify
any faults, such as misspelled names or addresses, they encounter in their
cheques. He also stated that the state government has always been at the
frontline and committed to work for the socio-economic development of the
public and making their livelihoods much easier.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">In Temi-Namphing constituency, the cheque distribution
programme under Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana was organised at Block Administrative
Centre (BAC), Temi.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The programme was attended by area MLA Bedu Singh Panth
as the chief guest, who distributed cheques to the eligible beneficiaries under
the scheme.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The programme was conducted under the guidance of Temi
BDO, with the officers and staff of Temi BAC making extensive arrangements and
ensuring effective coordination with elected representatives, beneficiaries and
other stakeholders. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The cheque distribution programme held at the auditorium
of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Yangang, under the jurisdiction
of Yangang BAC was attended by Deputy Speaker and Rangang–Yangang MLA Raj
Kumari Thapa as the chief guest.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">A total of 1,000 beneficiaries from all six Gram
Panchayat Units (GPUs) under BAC Yangang are being covered through the two-day
cheque distribution programme. On Saturday, cheques were distributed to 727
beneficiaries from Kolthang Tokday GPU, Neya-Mangzing GPU, Yangang Rangang GPU
and Sripatam Gagyong GPU, along with an additional 14 beneficiaries from Sanga.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The remaining 273 beneficiaries from Ravang Khop GPU and
Sangmoo Rankey GPU will receive their cheques on Sunday at Ravangla, completing
the distribution process across all six GPUs under BAC Yangang.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana is a flagship
welfare initiative of the Government of Sikkim aimed at strengthening the
financial security, dignity and empowerment of eligible mothers. The scheme
provides annual financial assistance of Rs. 40,000 to eligible beneficiaries,
disbursed in two instalments of Rs. 20,000 each, supporting mothers in meeting
essential family needs and strengthening their economic security.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The initiative reflects the State government’s continued
focus on recognising the invaluable role of mothers in strengthening families
and communities, the Deputy Speaker said. Through direct financial support and
women-centric welfare measures, the government seeks to promote dignity,
financial security and greater empowerment among mothers across Sikkim.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana also forms part of
the State government’s broader efforts towards women’s welfare and empowerment,
alongside initiatives such as Aama Samman Diwas, which recognises and
celebrates the contribution of mothers across the State.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Through such welfare initiatives, Thapa said, the government
continues its efforts towards strengthening families, supporting mothers and
promoting inclusive development across Sikkim.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">“Empowering an Aama means strengthening a family;
strengthening families means building a stronger Sikkim,” she added.<o:p></o:p></p><p>
