Hamro Khabar Sikkim celebrates 5th foundation day with felicitations

<p><b>GEYZING,:</b> On the occasion of its 5th Foundation Day, Hamro Khabar Sikkim, a Geyzing-based digital media outlet founded by Rudra Kaushik and his spouse Paru Attri, felicitated eminent journalists from across Sikkim in recognition of their long-standing contributions to the field of journalism.</p><p>Those honoured included Puran Tamang, founder of Summit Times; D.R. Dulal, sub-editor of Himali Bela; and N.B. Ghimirey, writer, journalist and founder of Sikkim Jana Khabar. The trio was recognised for their sincere and dedicated service to journalism over the years.</p><p>The organisation also felicitated individuals from various fields for their contributions to society. Among them were social activist Sanjay Pradhan, head of NGO Naya Soch Naya Bichaar; Dr Abhimanyu Sharma for his service in the health sector; Zilla Panchayat member Sagar Sharma for his role as a public representative; and Srijana Subba for her achievements and contribution towards the promotion of sports.</p><p>The felicitation programme, held at the Community Hall in Geyzing, was attended by Narayan Khatiwada, chairperson of the Rural Development Department, as the chief guest.</p><p>In his introductory address, Rudra Kaushik stated that Hamro Khabar Sikkim was established to fill the void of a dedicated digital news platform in West Sikkim. He acknowledged that running a digital media outlet was challenging in its initial stages, but emphasised that delivering articulate, truthful and unbiased reports to the public has always remained the organisation’s sincere commitment. He also expressed gratitude to the people and well-wishers who have supported the outlet’s growth over the years.</p><p>Addressing the gathering, Narayan Khatiwada congratulated the team on successfully completing five years of smooth functioning. He remarked that media platforms not only keep people informed about developments around the world but also serve as an important medium to connect communities and strengthen public awareness. Referring to the press as the fourth pillar of democracy, he said it plays a crucial role in development and in bringing about positive change in society. He added that winning the trust and confidence of the people through honest and responsible reportage is the true strength of any media organisation.</p><p>Puran Tamang described journalism as an ever-learning process and a continuous exchange of knowledge and experience among professionals. He highlighted the challenges faced by the media today and stressed the need for collective efforts to address them. Speaking on the growing interest of the younger generation in the profession, he emphasised the importance of leaving behind a strong journalistic legacy and urged journalists to uphold integrity, credibility and responsibility.</p><p>The individuals felicitated on the occasion expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hamro Khabar Sikkim for the honour. They said such recognition not only acknowledges their efforts but also inspires them to continue working with greater dedication in their respective fields.</p><div><br></div>
