<p><b>GANGTOK,: </b>Several leaders of the opposition SDF and CAP Sikkim parties, along with hundreds of their supporters, were inducted into the ruling SKM party on Wednesday.<br>They were warmly welcomed into the SKM by party president and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay during the party’s 14th foundation day celebrations.<br>Prominent among them were former SDF ministers, ex-MLAs, and office-bearers, including Hissay Lachungpa, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, Tshering Wangdi Lepcha, Bek Bahadur Rai, Norzang Lepcha, Rikzing Norbu Dorjee Bhutia, and candidates from the 2024 elections.<br>Those joining from CAP Sikkim included former minister Dawchoo Lepcha, former president L.P. Kafley, candidates from the 2024 elections, and a host of party functionaries.<br>Addressing the gathering, the newly inducted leaders of the opposition parties stated that they had joined the ruling SKM party after considering the holistic development initiatives undertaken by the SKM party, the State government, and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay.<br>They praised the schemes and policies introduced by the ruling party and the government, describing them as laudable for the overall welfare, upliftment, and development of the State and its people. The leaders said they had joined the party without any conditions, with the sole intention of extending their support to the leadership and further strengthening the SKM.<br>In his address, the Chief Minister warmly welcomed the new members and highlighted the SKM’s ideology of inclusive politics. “Our ideology is inclusive politics, and we want to take everyone along in the development process. Converting our enemies into our friends is our character. We welcome those from the opposition parties who have decided to join us after witnessing our good work,” he said.<br>Golay urged SKM workers not to feel disappointed over the induction of leaders from opposition parties. “I will not let your contributions go to waste. The party and I are always there for you,” he said. “Those who joined us today have not come to take away your share or rights; they have come to support and serve our party,” he added.<br>In a social media post later, the Chief Minister heartily welcomed the leaders and members of SDF and CAP who have decided to join our SKM family. Your decision reflects confidence in our shared vision and a commitment to contributing constructively to the governance and development of our State, he said.<br>“We recognise the experience, perspectives, and capabilities you bring, and we believe your participation will further strengthen our collective efforts in policy formulation and public service. Let us move forward together in a spirit of cooperation, mutual respect, and commitment to the progress and stability of our State,” said Golay.<br><br></p>
