<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif"><b>GANGTOK,: </b>The Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim has approached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), strongly condemning the report filed by the SP, Gangtok District in Case No. 8/21/1/2025, calling it “misleading, contradictory, and a deliberate attempt to shield the accused” in the brutal attack on CAP Sikkim leaders at Sadar Police Station, Gangtok on July 2025.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">A delegation from CAP Sikkim, visited the NHRC, New Delhi to submit the representation and highlight the gravity of the matter, said CAP Sikkim in a press statement on Thursday.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">In its press statement, the CAP Sikkim has alleged that the attack was orchestrated by SKM youth president Lakpa Tamang, raising serious concerns about political interference and misuse of the police machinery. Despite being granted eight weeks by the NHRC, the report submitted by Superintendent of Police, Gangtok in January 2026, CAP Sikkim stated that SP office has failed on every count of a fair investigation. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">The CAP Sikkim further stated that the report undermines the authority of the NHRC and exposes a dangerous nexus between political power and law enforcement in Sikkim. The party has demanded immediate and decisive intervention by the NHRC and submitted detailed suggestions to ensure accountability.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">“When citizens are attacked inside a police station and the system responds with denial and distortion, it reflects complete institutional failure,” said CAP Sikkim.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p> </p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">The party asserted that it is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and will not hesitate to approach the highest court of the land to ensure justice, accountability, and exposure of those responsible.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
