IPR calls for participation from local filmmakers for upcoming Sikkim International Film Festival

<p><b>GANGTOK, (IPR):</b> The Information and Public Relations department today held a coordination meeting with representatives of the film fraternity of Sikkim with regard to the upcoming Sikkim International Film Festival, tentatively scheduled to be held from 19 to 22 March in the capital.</p><p>The meeting was chaired by secretary, IPR department, Annapurna Alley, in the presence of chairman, IPR, Ashit Rai, chairman, Sikkim Film Promotion Board, Tashi Tshering Bhutia, press secretary to the CM, Yougan Tamang, and director, IPR, Sunil Mothay.</p><p>During the meeting, it was informed that an open-category short film competition, open to filmmakers from Sikkim, North Bengal, Bhutan and Nepal, is being organised as part of the festival.</p><p>Filmmakers have been invited to submit short films of a maximum duration of 30 minutes, across all themes and genres, encouraging creative freedom for participants. Selected films will be screened during the festival at the proposed venue.</p><p>The department has urged members of the film fraternity to actively participate in the competition and contribute to making the festival a vibrant platform for showcasing local cinematic talent.</p><p>Representatives from the film industry will also be included in the preview committee and jury panel, and filmmakers have been invited to assist in moderation and interaction sessions during film screenings.</p><p>During the open discussion, filmmakers shared their ideas and concerns, which were subsequently addressed by the department.</p><p>Event and technical partners also briefed participants on the criteria and requirements for screening films, including certification and submission guidelines.</p><p>The department also informed that another round of coordination meeting with the film fraternity will be held tomorrow to further streamline preparations for the festival.</p><p>The meeting concluded with an appeal for greater participation and collaboration from the local film community to ensure the successful organisation of the upcoming international film festival.</p><div><br></div>
