<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif""><b>GANGTOK,:</b> Governor Om PrakashMathur on April 3 visited Chaten Military Station in North Sikkim to attend a dedication ceremony that acknowledged the contribution of Indian Army in restoration of normalcy in North Sikkim, through their welfare projects and sustained humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">The visit was significant, since this was the first visit of the Governor to this sector, post the event of cloud burst and landslide of June 2025, an Army press release informs.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">During his visit, the Governor formally dedicated the 164 welfare projects costing approximately Rs. 15 crore, undertaken by the Indian Army, over the last two years, to the people of Lachen and Lachung Valley. The Governor also lauded the sterling contribution of the Indian Army in nation building, through protection of the borders in extremely inhospitable conditions; upgrading the livelihood of locals in the region through welfare schemes; and being the last bastion during any natural calamity.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style","serif"">Governor Mathur also lauded the courage and resilience of the locals of Lachen and Lachung Valley, who braved such conditions and supported the Indian Army in all its efforts.
