MoS Savitri Thakur reviews Centrally Sponsored Schemes and developmental projects across Namchi district

She also interacted with Anganwadi workers of the Ravangla circle and enquired about grassroots-level activities being undertaken in the region.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">Thereafter, the minister visited National Institute of Technology Sikkim, where director Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil apprised her of the institute’s induction process, faculty strength, and student enrolment across various academic disciplines. The minister also enquired about research initiatives focusing on economic sustainability and innovative technologies suited to the region. As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, she planted an orange sapling and a golden euonymus within the institute premises.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">Subsequently, the minister toured Temi Tea Estate, where she was briefed on the various tea flushes produced at the estate and the tea manufacturing process, including withering, drying, sorting, and packaging of tea leaves.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">En route, she also visited the food godown at Namthang, where DCSO Tenzing Bhutia briefed her on the functioning of the facility, the distribution of essential commodities, and the number of beneficiaries covered under AAY, PHH, and OPHH ration cards.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">The minister later proceeded to Upper Bokrang under Kateng Pamphok GPU to inspect a beneficiary house constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). She interacted with beneficiary Chuden Tamang and enquired about the benefits availed under other Central Government schemes, including Jal Jeevan Mission.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">Thereafter, she visited CM Shree Government Secondary School, Kateng, and inspected infrastructure developed under the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). She also interacted with students and teachers regarding teaching methodologies and academic activities undertaken by the institution.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">The minister further inspected the Kateng Primary health sub-centre and reviewed the healthcare facilities and services being provided to the public. Community health officer Divya Sharma briefed her on maternal healthcare services, OPD facilities, availability of medicines, and other healthcare initiatives being carried out at the centre.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">The minister also visited the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Namthang, where she toured the soil testing laboratory and spawn production unit. Scientists at KVK apprised her of the operational procedures and functioning of the facilities. She later held an interactive session with beneficiaries of PM-KSN and PMKSY.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">Addressing the beneficiaries, the minister spoke about the State’s unique terrain and progressive organic farming practices while encouraging livelihood support initiatives under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes. She expressed support for the promotion and marketing of products from the State and encouraged the adoption of modern farming techniques while preserving the environment. She further stated that such initiatives would contribute significantly towards boosting tourism and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">Throughout the visit, the minister was accompanied by Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba, Barfung MLA Rikshal Dorjee, Namthang-Rateypani MLA Sanjeet Kharel, Sikkim State Women Commission chairperson Tenny Doma Bhutia, APS to CM (Namchi) Bishnu Prasad Sharma, Namchi DC Anupa Tamling, ADC (Headquarters) Subash Ghimirey, Namchi ADC Trisang Tamang, ADC (Development) Dr CP Rai, Namchi SDM Wangyal Sherpa, Ravangla SDM Saran Kalikotey, Namchi CDPO Laxuman Tamang, Ravangla CDPO Norbu Lepcha and assistant director Jyothsna Khatiwara, along with officials from various line departments of the district.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p> </p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Bookman Old Style&quot;,serif">The entourage accompanying the MoS also included Satyen Lama, economic advisor, Ministry of Women and Child Development.&nbsp;&nbsp;<o:p></o:p></span></p>
