<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b>GANGTOK,:</b><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">
Sikkim University vice-chancellor Prof. Santanu K Swain on Tuesday met Sikkim
chief secretary R. Telang and discussed key infrastructure requirements for
expediting the full operationalisation of the university’s permanent campus at
Yangang.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">Swain
apprised the chief secretary of the ongoing construction prgoress and the
university’s target to relocate its academic departments and administration to
the permanent campus in phases by the end of the year, the university said.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">Six
academic departments have already been shifted to the Yangang campus during the
2023-24 academic session.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">During
the meeting, the vice-chancellor stressed the need for uninterrupted power
supply and regular availability of drinking water at the campus to facilitate a
smooth transition.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">Taking
immediate cognisance of the issues, Telang contacted the secretaries of Power department
and Public Health Engineering department and directed them to initiate prompt
measures to address the electricity and water supply requirements, informs a
press release<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">Swain
also drew the chief secretary’s attention to the long-pending settlement of
land compensation and formal handover of the remaining 35 acres of land
earmarked for the university's expansion.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">The
vice-chancellor expressed gratitude to the chief secretary for his immediate
intervention and said the government's continued support would help ensure a
smooth and timely relocation to the Yangang campus.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family:"Bookman Old Style",serif">Swain
was accompanied by university registrar P.K. Dash, director Prof. Durga P.
Chhetri and Hindi advisor to Lok Bhawan, Dr. Pradip Tripathi.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p>
