<p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;"><b>GANGTOK,:</b> Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim president Ganesh Kumar Rai on Saturday chaired a district-level meeting with party workers at Padamchen in Pakyong district.</p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">Addressing the gathering, Rai highlighted the party’s founding objectives of protecting Sikkim’s identity and future, while ensuring the development and progress of its people. He asserted that CAP Sikkim is committed to governing the State in accordance with rules and proper systems after forming the government, and to building a productive society, a party press release informs.</p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">“One of our founding aims is to create capable human resources and make Sikkim a model State in the country,” said Rai.</p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">He alleged that Sikkim has failed to progress due to corrupt political leadership and claimed that more than 10 factories have shut down during the tenure of the SKM government. He further alleged that more factories are likely to close in the coming days, causing significant losses to Pakyong district, while the government remains unconcerned.</p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">The meeting, however, reportedly encountered a hurdle at the outset, with CAP Sikkim accusing the police of attempting to disrupt the programme. The party claimed that permission granted earlier for the use of a public address system was abruptly withdrawn and that police personnel arrived at the venue to seize the microphone.</p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">The CAP Sikkim was holding its meeting at the premises of a party functionary, the release mentions.</p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">Following discussions, the party proceeded with the meeting without using the microphone.</p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">CAP Sikkim stated in its press statement that the party remains prepared to challenge the government on issues concerning public welfare, policies and principles.</p>
